Background

This client has been crafting and distributing delicious juice drinks made from exotic fruits for over 30 years. Looking to enhance their operations, they turned to Sage for a recommendation on a developer and integrator. That’s when they were introduced to Technology Partners Ltd, a trusted Sage Strategic Partner with expertise in ERP solutions for the Food & Beverage industry.

The brief

The goal was to implement an ERP system that seamlessly integrates with an MRP system (Materials Requirement Planning) while also managing key areas like accounts, sales & CRM, inventory, warehousing, and labour.

MRP (Materials Requirements Planning)

A full materials requirement and stock management system, including:

  • An automated manufacturing process – Upon receiving a sales order, the Sage MRP system keeps the recipes for each line. It calculates the raw materials required such as fruit pulp, water & packaging.
  • Importing of the existing stock of raw materials and finished product are included in the planning
  • The system then calculates machine time, labour and all other manufacturing requirements and generates delivery dates for all orders and customers.
  • The system also holds details of expiry dates, batches numbers and stock locations using warehousing management systems.

Sales automation

TPL developed the ERP for Food & Beverage industry system to automate the sales process, including:

  • Managing quotations
  • Sales orders & Purchase orders
  • Integration into the accounts system
  • A field sales App using Microsoft Power Apps
  • Works orders are run on completed sales each night directly into the MRP system

Microsoft Power Business Intelligence

Technology Partners Ltd was one of the first companies in the UK to implement Microsoft Power BI™. By leveraging AI to query data from the ERP, MRP, and Accounts systems, TPL created a suite of insightful reports using Power BI. Additionally, they developed a field sales app with the Power App module to help the client manage their sales operations more efficiently.

The Food & Beverages App

TPL leveraged Power Apps to develop a custom field sales app, allowing sales teams to enter orders directly into Sage 1000 and seamlessly integrate with the MRP, ERP, and accounts systems. This innovation enables salespeople to complete transactions on the go, improving efficiency, streamlining processes, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Reporting

One of the biggest strengths of Power BI is its ability to provide live, real-time reporting tailored to specific business needs. TPL created a suite of customised reports and dashboards, offering both high-level executive insights and detailed performance analysis. These included:

  • Overall sales and manufacturing reports
  • Sales performance by region
  • Sales breakdown by product line and region
  • Live reports from each store’s till system, allowing for product-level tracking and store performance comparisons
  • These reports can be accessed anytime, from anywhere, on any device—ensuring the client always has the insights they need at their fingertips.
